Town of Pittsville – Town Hall Closed Monday
Due to the forecasted winter storm and Blizzard Warning, Town Hall will be closed on Monday, February 23, 2026. We will provide updates regarding reopening as conditions improve. Thank you for your understanding and please stay safe!
Blizzard Warning in Effect
The National Weather Service Wakefield VA has issued a Blizzard Warning for our area from 1:00 PM Sunday through 7:00 PM Monday.
What to Expect:
• Blizzard conditions with 8–14 inches of snow
• Wind gusts up to 45–50 mph
• Whiteout conditions and dangerously low visibility
• Travel that could become very difficult to impossible
• Potential for downed trees and power lines
• Possible power outages
Hazardous conditions are expected to impact both the Monday morning and evening commutes.
Important Safety & Preparation Guidance
We strongly urge residents to prepare now and limit travel during the storm.
Before the Storm:
• Stock at least three days of non-perishable food, water, and medications
• Check smoke detectors for proper operation
• Charge phones and electronic devices
• Prepare emergency supplies for your home and vehicle
• Bring pets indoors
• Move vehicles and trash cans off roadways
• Check on elderly or vulnerable neighbors
During the Storm:
• Stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary
• If you must travel, carry a winter survival kit and stay with your vehicle if stranded
• Never operate generators indoors or in attached garages
• Use portable heaters safely and keep combustible materials away from heating sources
After the Storm:
• Continue to avoid unnecessary travel while crews clear roads
• Use caution around downed trees or power lines
