Town Council Vacancy: Request for Letters of Interest

With the resignation of Town Commissioner John Palmer for personal reasons on April 21, 2025 from the PITTSVILLE TOWN COMMISSIONERS, a vacancy has been declared by the Town Commission President.

The Town Commissioners are requesting that any PITTSVILLE citizen resident, interested in being considered for appointment to the position until the term expires (November, 2025) when the next town municipal election is scheduled to be held, submit a LETTER OF INTEREST detailing qualifications, and goals you would like to pursue for the Town as a member of the Town Commission. Applicants must be qualified voters and have residence in the town for at least one year prior to official appointment.

Letters of Interest must be received by close of business on May 12, 2025. The Town Commissioners will consider all applications properly received with the intent to appoint an applicant at the next Town Meeting to be held on May 19, 2025 commencing at 7:00 pm in Town Hall.

(RFP) Request for Proposals: Refuse Pick-Up and Disposal Service

Request for Proposals
Refuse Pick-Up and Disposal Service

The Town of Pittsville is soliciting proposals to provide refuse pickup and disposal service for a three year period commencing July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028. All responsible parties engaged in this business and interested in providing this service are requested to submit a proposal to the Town of Pittsville, 7505 Gumboro Road, P O Drawer A Pittsville, Maryland 21850.

The total number of units to be served weekly is approximately 600 with 2 bulk trash pickups scheduled for spring and fall collection. Service is to be provided every Thursday. Should day designated be a holiday, then service to be provided the following day. The successful bidder will be required to provide one (1) waste disposal receptacle for each residential unit.

All proposals shall be sealed and marked clearly “Refuse Pickup and Disposal Services Proposal” and delivered to the Town of Pittsville at the above address no later than 2:00 p.m. April 11, 2025.

Each proposal must be accompanied by a bid bond with an approved surety company in the amount of five percent (5%) of the amount of the initial one year proposal as surety for the execution of the contract. A certified check on a solvent bank, drawn and made payable to the Town of Pittsville in the sum of five percent (5%) of the amount of the initial one year proposal shall be accepted in lieu of the bond. Should any proposal be rejected, such bond or certified check shall immediately be returned to the proposer and should any proposal be accepted, such check will be returned upon proper execution and signing of the contract. Evidence of compliance with the Workers Compensation statues for the State of Maryland is required.

The Town of Pittsville reserves the right to reject any and all proposals or portions thereof and to make award with any bidder as is most beneficial and in the interests of the Town. Questions can be addressed by calling the Town Hall at 410-835-8872.
