We are at that time of the year when the Town of Pittsville’s Department of Code Compliance & Enforcement would like to advise and remind our property owners and resident citizens of some of the municipal code complaints we receive and those that could become code municipal violations.
GRASS/WEED CUTTING
The Town’s “Nuisance Ordinance” states that grass/weeds growing above twelve (12) inches is a municipal code violation and subject to the issuance of a municipal infraction and citation if the grass/weeds are not cut after receiving a letter from the Town Manager acting in his capacity as the Code Enforcement Officer.
BUILDING PERMITS
Town building permits are required for any new construction or additions to structures to include sheds, decks, pools, fences. Should anyone have questions it would be best and advisable to call the Town Hall before considering any potential work on your property.
AS A REMINDER, any municipal employee while attending to his/her regular duties is considered an extension of the Department of Code Compliance & Enforcement and has the authority to report any violations to the Town Manager for further action.
